Employee Biographies

Ken Strange, Director
Ken moved to Wimberley in 1985 after a 4 year stent in the Air Force. He joined Wimberley Volunteer Fire Department around 1989 then joined Wimberley EMS as a volunteer around 1991. He was hired on full time with Wimberley EMS in 1996 as a Paramedic and became Director in 2004. Ken lives in Woodcreek North with his wife Yvette and two children, Kennedy and Hallie. In their off time, they enjoy traveling, camping and being outdoors.



Caroline Baker
Caroline moved here from California in 1996 and went to work at Wimberley EMS in 2002. Caroline does the accounting and general office management and assists the director when needed. She enjoys crossword puzzles, word games and making forms.






Jeff Bolton
Jeff has been a paramedic for ten years. His career at Wimberley EMS started in 1997 as a volunteer and then he came aboard full time in 2002. He and his wife Annie have three beautiful children, two girls and a boy. During his time off he enjoys spending time with family and friends, and traveling.





Jonathan Brandt
Jonathan has worked at Wimberley EMS since 2002. He is also a part time Flight Medic. He is married and has one son. In his spare time he enjoys the outdoors.

Patrick Conner
Patrick earned his Paramedic Certification in 1994. After working at several other EMS services in the Central Texas area, Patrick joined Wimberley EMS in September 2003.







Ron Freeman
Ron and his wife moved to Wimberley in 2005 after a lifetime in Arizona. They have a grown son and daughter. He became paramedic in June 2009. He is also a recovering Arizona CPA and ham radio operator, K5MM.






Kyle Gerdes
Kyle has been with Wimberley EMS since 1984. She and her husband Jeff have two grown daughters and one granddog. Her family also includes two chihuahuas and a wire hair terrier.







Mark Jackson
Mark has been in the EMS profession since 1982. In 1984 he received his Associate of Applied Science degree in Paramedic Tech. He has worked for various systems both urban and rural, but he prefers rural. He has been employed by Wimberley EMS since 2002 and says Wimberley EMS is "by far the superior service with great people that are dedicated to the community". He is proud to be here.



Joseph Jamieson
Joseph began his career working for Refinery Terminal Fire Company in Corpus Christi, Texas. His responsibilities included emergency response in an industrial setting. From there Joseph moved to College Station and underwent Paramedic training and obtained employment with College Station Fire Department where he remained for 5 years. The opportunity then arose for a full time position in Joseph's hometown of Wimberley, Texas. Joseph left College Station behind and is grateful to be home. Joseph has a wife and two children and happily resides in Woodcreek North.

Richard Kay
Richard, originally from San Antonio, was a small business owner from September 1992 until September 2008. December 2004, Richard became affiliated with the Wimberley Volunteer Fire Department where he later served as Vice President of the Executive Board. In May 2006, he earned his EMT-B certification. October of 2008, Richard and two others became the newest full-time medics to join the Wimberley EMS family. Now, a Nationally Registered Paramedic and Certified BLS Instructor, he serves as the Education Coordinator for Wimberley EMS. Richard, his wife, and two of his three children are members of St. Stephens Church and are proud to call Wimberley their home.

Jerry Mayhall
Jerry has been in the EMS field since 1985. He began as a volunteer. Prior to working in Wimberley, he worked for the Austin Travis County EMS for 11 years. He has worked in both rural and urban areas. He was an officer in the Army and has a Bachelor's Degree in Business. He has two daughters and three grandchildren.




Cathy Montgomery
Prior to joining Wimberley EMS, Cathy was in the Wimberley Volunteer Fire Department, did dispatching for the Wimberley Fire and EMS, and then worked part time for Wimberley EMS. She was hired on full time in 2002.






Shannon Palmer
Shannon moved from Wyoming to Wimberley in August 2008 with her husband and three children. She works in the office assisting Caroline and Ken. In her spare time she enjoys reading, spending time with her family (outdoors as much as possible) and crafts.






Donna Schuster
Donna has been a Paramedic for approximately 19 years and joined Wimberley EMS in 2001. She loves Wimberley and feels fortunate to work with such a great group of people. She is married and has four grown children and five grandchildren. She enjoys family time, crafts and quilting in her time off.





Jessica Young
Jessica is originally from the Southeast Texas area and has lived in the Hill Country from 15 years now and loves it. She and her husband have two children. She enjoys spending time with her family (they enjoy going to the lake or river). She also enjoys watching her children participate in sports. She has been in EMS for 12 years and has been a Paramedic for about 2 years now and really enjoys working in Wimberley.
