We are currently seeking donors to help sponsor the cash prizes for the winning ducks. There is no set amount for a donation. We have had donations as small as $5.00 and as large as $2,000. Any donation, large or small, would be greatly appreciated. With the help of individuals and merchants like you donating the prize money, Wimberley EMS will be able to keep the money that will be made by selling Duck tickets. This year WEMS plans to use the money that is donated to purchase "Tough Books" (laptop computers) and software to be placed in the ambulances in order to simplify and expedite patient care reporting and to serve as an instant reference for standard operating procedures. These laptops can store area maps, medical guidelines and drug reference information which will enable the medics to have immediate access to answers while on scene. Wimberley EMS is also interested in installing a rain water collection system at the EMS station if and when the funds are available. Wimberley EMS is a non-profit organization, which has been granted 501(C)(3) status through the Internal Revenue Service. With 10 full time paid paramedics, WEMS provides 24-hour ambulance service to the communities of Wimberley, Woodcreek and to the surrounding two hundred and twenty square miles of rural southwest Hays County. At this time we serve a population of approximately 12,000 to 13,000 people. The Duck Race is Wimberley EMS' main fundraiser and any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated. We know that this isn't a decision one makes lightly or on short notice so we have included a self addressed envelope for you to mail any contribution you are able to make.
